§ 02 — Format

What happens at a session.

We meet outdoors for tea and silent meditation. The usual format is three twenty-minute sits, with tea before, after, or between rounds.

Sometimes we include a short conversation about practice in everyday life. The group is peer-led. There is no formal teacher and no requirement to follow a particular tradition.

The atmosphere is simple, quiet, and practice-oriented. People sit on cushions, mats, blankets, or whatever they have brought. Phones stay quiet. Conversation is welcome after the bell, not during.

A typical afternoon: arrive 13:00, settle, first sit at 13:15. Three sits with tea between. We close around 15:00.

§ 03 — Audience

Who it’s for.

This group is for people who want to practice meditation sincerely with others. You do not need to be Buddhist or experienced, but you should be comfortable with silence, stillness, and a simple practice container.

The group may be especially interesting to people drawn to pragmatic dharma, Theravāda, Thai Forest practice, insight meditation, concentration practice, or direct investigation of experience.

It will probably feel like a poor fit if you are looking for guided relaxation, a wellness class, a social meetup, or a teacher-led path.

§ 04 — Tea

Tea gives the gathering a simple beginning and ending. Not a ceremony — just a way to arrive, settle, and spend a little time together.”

Usually Chinese tea brewed in a small clay pot or gaiwan. Bring your own cup if you have one.

§ 05 — Container

The practice container.

Simple, durable rules that make sincere practice possible in a public park.

  1. iArrive on time. We start with a clear bell.
  2. iiKeep phones silent. Out of sight is even better.
  3. iiiRespect silence during sits.
  4. ivTry not to move during silent sits.
  5. vCommunity dharma talks and prompt cards.
  6. viThe group is peer-led, not teacher-led.
  7. viiPractice is more important than performance.
§ 06 — Logistics

What to bring.

We sit on the ground in a Berlin park. Bring something to sit on and warm clothes — the weather decides the rest.

  • Something to sit on — blanket, mat, or zafu
  • Warm clothes & layers
  • Water
  • Weather-appropriate gear
  • A cup, if you like
  • A cushion or small bench
  • Your own tea to share
  • A friend, with sincere interest
§ 07 — Questions

Honest answers.

Is this a Buddhist group?
The group is dharma-informed but not tied to one school, teacher, or institution. Some of the inspiration comes from pragmatic dharma, Theravāda, and Thai Forest simplicity. You do not need to identify as Buddhist to join.
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes, if you are comfortable sitting quietly and following a simple practice container. It is not a guided relaxation class, but beginners with sincere interest are welcome.
Is there a teacher?
No. The group is peer-led. People may share from their own practice, but nobody is positioned as the authority.
What kind of meditation do you do?
Usually silent sitting. People may practice breath meditation, body awareness, open awareness, metta, insight practice, concentration practice, or another quiet technique. We don’t prescribe a method.
Do I need to bring tea?
No. Tea is usually provided. You can bring a cup or your own tea if you like.
What happens if it rains?
It depends on the weather and the season. Check Telegram on the morning of — we either move under cover, postpone, or sit through light rain with the right gear.
Is it free?
Completely free. There is nothing to pay, and nothing is asked for.
